The Magician

from Wolvez (S/T) by WOLVEZ

lyrics

The magician stood and saw the land
Fine place, a good home must stand
A castle for my keep

But he was lone and oh, so weak
Spied a frog for a man from he sprang
From frightful spell

They turned the mud
Fashioned the stone
Soon a lone wall, it stood
Grey and strong

But he was tired, his ire was drawn
So a man from another frog stood
Fit and grand

They raised more walls, they pulled a roof
Till the castle emerged into view
Solid and proud

But he grew tired so yet again
More frogs conscripted from home
Became men so fit

Soon rushed a moat, now spanned a bridge
Sharp towers cut through the clouds
What mercy none gives

But he was tired, sat amid the shade
Pulled another frog from the grey
Now two arms and too legs

The men worked long
The men worked strong
Singing songs of their watery home
May they return, he shall never tell

Ballrooms crossed halls of marble grand
As he dreamed of the parties he’d lead
Dark Magic and fire

There must be a cellar so full of wine
So below did the earth crack and give
Walls went up neat

As the magician whipped, with water teased
As the frogs with their backs under siege
Muscled and weaved.

But as the sun waned, he wanted more
More and more and faster do plead
As the men rushed to please

So he pulled yet more, until the creek was bare
But so many men now did work, and the castle did gleam

But as he marveled sat as the cellar rose
The men lifted a new fort of stone
Tall enough for a throne

They sat him tall, they sat him proud
Just before they sealed tight the wall
Cellar ceiling to floor

And As he raged, as he cursed and screamed
The men swam the moat to the creek
Home once again

And you can hear his screams if you cross the land
Thin, hollow, no magic can pass from clawed hands through the stone

The castle stands tall, the castle gleams
But there stands tall trees along the creek
Their water does teem.
